Permission to be free (even here, even now)
To be awakened is to know freedom from suffering. To taste it even once is enough to change your trajectory from complacency and cognitive dissonance to freedom and empowered action. To live the awakened life is to stay on the path of seeking the space between stimulus and response, where the choice is simply, suffer or be free. The work is in connecting to the present moment where such a choice always arrives.
I am content to take responsibility for this assignment for the rest of my life. Working and being with people who are taking accountability, listening, learning, growing, evolving and finding their own power, peace and internal freedom? More, please, thank you! This work is highly satisfying. Especially now. I’m so grateful to have traction in action at a time when there is so much fear energy to process through our earthly bodies.
Most people appreciate my free-spirited nature—except for the ones who really don’t. I can see how I help give you permission to free yourself too. Of course, I’m not always free—but often, I am. A near-death / out-of-body experience in childhood took me beyond this plane… and somehow returned me back to this form. I suddenly understood then—and still remember now: we are free here. And, we can know it!
We can know we are powerful. We can know we are divine. We can know we are free. But, we also do live here. And these conditions are THICK with fear. Fear clouds our judgement, stains our lens of consciousness, and erodes our joy and ease. Over time, it destroys our health and vitality. Even worse, we start to prefer surviving in fear over thriving in peace.
I know. Crazy. But it’s true. We get hooked—chasing fear and missing the truth that’s right here. We can suffer or we can be free. Usually, we bounce between the two—liberated in some areas, stuck in others. I think that’s all ok.
Fortunately, suffering wakes us up, or at least invites us to awaken. Which is what we ought to do, if for no other reason than to stop our suffering, which is a good enough reason. Whether we suffer or we don’t, we are all coming home together to a deeper truth, which is this…
We were not born to suffer, but to live freely, love one another, learn and grow, and create new things.
The reason it has gotten to be like this (pointing to you, modern day world drama) is because we also have the free will to create whatever thing we choose, to explore wherever we want, to be whoever we want to be. Yes, even THAT (pointing to you know who) is an option here.
This is a YES Universe. Plain and simple. You CAN have it! You want to suffer? You got it. You want it to feel easy? Done. Some people know this and they are using this power for evil, which is to say in service of ignorance or unconsciousness. Some people don’t know it and their power is being completely wasted. Many of us know it and forget it, or know it but don’t really trust it.
Frankly, we DO get to choose, on some level,…but only if we are awake to choice. Only if, in the small moments, we remember we’re free. And to do that, we have to drop off the pain we’ve been carrying, and get very present.
We’ve got to feel it—then let it go. Most people try to skip the feeling part. But it doesn’t work like that. If you don’t feel it, you fling it. Until you feel it and let it go, you will just walk around blindly throwing your pain at everyone as unconsciousness wins the tug of war with your best intentions.
Jung said the steps to our liberation go like this; First, purge cathartic and emotional material. Then, review the rubble for meaning. Next, get your act together.Take a step. Do the next right thing. Boom. You have transformed.
More or less, this is how we die and rebuild our psyche…over and over again, if need be. When it’s long overdue, you will start to really suffer. And you know what that means—if you're suffering on the inside, imagine how the people around you feel in your presence.
You weren’t born to suffer but suffering is usually what you need in order to know…you were born to be wholly human, to love and be loved, to live and be free, and to remember you are fully empowered to surrender to the present moment…at any time. Even here. Even now.
